Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or similar term entered in a search tool is sent to the independent provider that operates that tool. Vance County Court Docket does not maintain a separate log of the search terms entered through those provider tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If correspondence is sent to us, the information in that correspondence may be retained so it can be handled or answered. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Like most web services, the servers and service providers supporting this resource may receive technical information when a page is requested. That information can include:
- The IP address associated with the connection.
- Browser type, version, device type, and operating system.
- Pages requested and the duration of a visit.
- The referring website, if one is supplied.
- Page-view dates and times.
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that can help a service recognize how pages are used. Analytics providers may aggregate technical and usage information to measure traffic and performance. Browser controls can limit cookies, though some features may respond differently when cookies are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
Information collected through normal operation may be used to run and improve the resource. Typical uses include:
- Keeping pages available and addressing technical faults.
- Passing a search request to the provider chosen by the visitor.
- Measuring which information is useful or difficult to reach.
- Reviewing performance, security, and service reliability.
- Supporting advertising that may be based on general usage information.
No Court-Record Data on File
Vance County Court Docket does not host, compile, sell, or maintain a database of Vance County court dockets, case files, hearing calendars, or personal case-record information. It provides general routing information for the Vance County Clerk of Superior Court, trial courts, and public search channels. Clerk-maintained court records are governed by North Carolina court-record access rules, including G.S. 7A-109, not by this private resource. This resource is not a consumer reporting agency and does not assemble visitor or court information into consumer reports.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on some content pages. Information sent to one of those tools is governed by that provider's own privacy practices, retention rules, and sharing policies. Vance County Court Docket does not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before entering information into its service.
Links to Other Websites
Links to court pages, Clerk information, state search services, and other external resources leave this resource. The privacy terms of the destination control activity after the link is opened. Some advertising services may conduct their own cross-site activity measurement; that activity is operated on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Vance County Court Docket does not sell personal information. Depending on the service used and a legal obligation, information may be available to:
- Search providers that process a query entered into their tools.
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic or performance.
- Advertising networks serving content on the resource.
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal requirement.
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information handled by this resource. Internet transmission and storage cannot be guaranteed secure in every circumstance, so absolute security cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If information from a minor is believed to have been submitted, an appropriate request can be made for its review and removal.
Your Data Rights
Available rights depend on applicable law and the information actually held. North Carolina's court-record access rules, including G.S. 7A-109, concern original court records maintained by the Clerk rather than a visitor-data right against this private resource. Where applicable, a visitor may request:
- A copy of personal information held about that visitor.
- Correction of information that is inaccurate.
- Deletion of information, subject to legal retention duties.
- Limits on particular forms of processing where law provides that option.
